What Is 4-H?In 4-H, the largest youth development organization in the world, children from urban, suburban and rural communities learn valuable life skills in areas such as leadership, teamwork, citizenship, safety, volunteerism, and much more. The mission of Massachusetts 4-H is to prepare youth to become independent and contributing members of society by providing them with the tools they need to be successful. Hundreds of dedicated volunteers and leaders serve as mentors and role models to 4-H youth throughout the state. Last year, the 4-H program contributed to the dreams and potential of over 25,000 young people in Massachusetts through clubs, summer camps, community-based activities and afterschool programs. The 4-H motto is “learn by doing.” 4-H is one of the largest outreach programs of UMass Extension. Visit www.mass4h.org for additional up-to-date program information and 2007 schedule of events.
